Section 2: SEO

For pure basics – search engine optimization is the practice of creating digital content with the intention of ranking higher on search engines like Google, Yahoo, or Bing. The good news is that you don’t have to spend thousands of dollars on search engine optimization (or SEO) to achieve results – but by proactively working on your website, you can improve your page ranking consistently over time.

When submitting your address to a directory, we recommend formatting your address the same way that the United States Postal Service does. You can find information on the United States Postal Service website.

For those in Canada, we suggest using the same format that Canada Post uses. You can find that information on the Canada Post website.

Sitemaps are the skeleton of every website. Google uses sitemaps as a way to index website information, so ensuring that they have the most up-to-date version of your sitemap is important for your search engine ranking.

You can easily create a sitemap with these free generators:

Section 3: Social Media

Social media has become a major powerhouse in our society. While a fun tool to connect with friends and family, learn more about current events, and discuss topics with like-minded individuals, social media has also become a huge driver for digital marketing. Here are a few of the best channels to utilize as a veterinary practice and the best practices for each.

Tools for Scheduling Posts:

  • Buffer – Great platform for scheduling, free up to 10 posts, but have options for more posts after that
