Access to Unlimited Two-Way Messaging Free for PetDesk Customers During COVID-19 Outbreak
SAN DIEGO (March 18, 2020) — PetDesk, the leader in veterinary communication software, has announced effective immediately, it will offer free unlimited Two-Way Messaging to help keep customers, staff and clients healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We have been working hard to support our customers through this extremely challenging time. By providing a free service that helps both pet parents and clinics stay connected, while simplifying ways to meet recommendations from the CDC for limiting contact, we are helping contribute during an unprecedented time,” said Taylor Cavanah, CEO PetDesk. “Our platform sent 1.5 million total email messages related to COVID-19 on behalf of our customers yesterday. This is ten times the volume of messages being deployed on a normal day. It is clear PetDesk is a critical communication platform. We want to make Two-Way Messaging available to all of our customers free during this time of crisis,” he added.
PetDesk launched Two-Way Messaging last year and over the past few weeks has been analyzing data – more and more clinics are using the feature to accommodate social distancing recommendations for both staff and clients. This allows the clinic to connect with clients quickly without face-to-face conversations or a phone call and recently clinics have been using Two-Way Messaging in novel ways for curbside drop-offs and pick-ups, prescription refill notes and communicating clinic protocol updates. “While the last few weeks have been really stressful for everyone, we have worked as a team to figure out how to create a safe environment for both our staff and clients and have had to change the way we operate per guidance from the CDC. Two-Way Messaging has been instrumental in keeping our customers updated,” said Dr. Brian Hurley, National Medical Director of AmeriVet Veterinary Partners.
As noted by the CDC, the best way to prevent the illness is to limit exposure to the virus, so social distancing has become a household term with recommendations to stay at least 6ft. away from other people. And, while the AVMA recommends taking extra precautions if you think you are ill around your pet, infectious disease experts and multiple international and domestic human and animal health organizations agree there is no evidence at this point to indicate that pets become ill with COVID-19 or that they spread it to other animals, including humans. Still, more information is required before the full extent of the disease and how it is transmitted is known, so extra precaution should become routine until further notice from the CDC.
